Settlement reached in lawsuit against Caitlyn Jenner over fatal car crash

LOS ANGELES — A settlement has been reached in the lawsuit brought against Caitlyn Jenner over a fatal car crash in February 2015, with the stepchildren of the woman killed filing to dismiss the suit.

Jenner's attorney, Philip Boesch Jr., confirmed the news Thursday to the Associated Press. No other details, including financial specifics of the settlement, have been revealed.

Kim Howe was killed on the Pacific Coast Highway when her Lexus rear-ended a Toyota Prius driven by Jessica Steindorff, according to authorities. This caused a chain reaction as Jenner rear-ended Howe's car, pushing it into oncoming traffic where it was struck by a Hummer. Howe died at the scene.

Howe's stepchildren, Dana Redmond and William Howe, brought the lawsuit against Jenner in May, claiming negligence was to blame for the accident.

In September, the Los Angeles District Attorney's office decided not to file vehicular manslaughter charges against Jenner in the Malibu crash. Investigators from the sheriff's office said at the time that Jenner, though not going over the speed limit, was traveling at an unsafe speed for the road conditions.

After an investigation, however, the D.A. concluded that Jenner's conduct could not be proven "unreasonable," and the case was rejected accordingly.

Jenner still faces a lawsuit from Steindorff's family.
