Pairing cheese, wine topic of seminar
The next educational seminar by Slow Food -- Las Vegas, the first Nevada convivium of Slow Food USA, is scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Southern Wine and Spirits, 8400 S. Jones Blvd. The topic is pairing cheese and other dairy products with wine. It's $10 for Slow Food members, $20 for nonmembers. Advance reservations are required; call Bob Morris at 257-5509. A Quintessa Winemaker's Dinner is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at the Medici Cafe and Terrace at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas. Chef Roy Yamaguchi's nine-city 20th-anniversary culinary tour will land in Las Vegas April 7 and 8. The Aloha Kitchen Challenge at 6:30 p.m. April 7 at Roy's Restaurant at 8701 W. Charleston Blvd. will pair three culinary students with chefs from Spago, Hachi and Rick's Cafe for a chance to win an internship with a Roy's chef. The five-course menu will include two courses by Roy's chef-partner and one entree from each competing team. It's $85. For reservations, call 838-3620.
