UNLVino tastings set for this weekend
UNLVino's "Auss-Some and Then Some," a tasting of new-world wines, is scheduled for 7 to 10 p.m. today at The District at Green Valley Ranch in Henderson. The annual wine festival -- which benefits scholarships at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas -- will culminate with The Grand Tasting from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Paris Las Vegas, 3655 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $75 for tonight's event, $100 ($125 at the door) for Saturday's, and are available at Smith's stores, Whole Foods Markets, the UNLV bookstore and some local wine shops. The Village Seafood Buffet has reopened at the Rio, 3700 W. Flamingo Road, with customizable sushi, seafood-wine pairings and more. Hours are from 4 to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, from 4 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. It's $38 per adult, $23.99 for children 4-8. ...
"Birds of Bounty" is the theme of the Bec Fin dinner scheduled for 6:30 p.m. today at Andre's French Restaurant, 401 S. Sixth St. With an entree of grilled pheasant wrapped in crispy phyllo, braised pheasant leg on foie gras toast and smoked African pintade breast, the five-course dinner is $125 per person, plus tax and tip.
