QUICK TAKES
Shame, sham
Soulja Boy knows he has young fans. And he also knows that some of the language and subject matter in the Grammy-nominated hit "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" wasn't exactly G-rated. So, the 18-year-old rapper has apologized to parents and says he's going to try harder to set a positive example. "Over the past few months, I've had a chance to meet a lot of my fans face to face, and it made me realize that I got a large fan base of kids that look up to me," he said. "I have a greater responsibility to the kids that want to be like Soulja Boy (and) I need to set a positive example for them."
Akon enters plea
Singer Akon will perform 65 hours of community service and pay a $250 fine as part of a plea bargain in which he pleaded guilty to harassment for tossing a fan off the stage at an upstate New York concert last year. After the plea in Fishkill Town Court, Akon shook hands with Anthony Smith, the now 16-year-old fan, and apologized to him and his parents. Akon declined comment as he left, but Andrea Zellan, his lawyer, issued a written statement saying, "We are pleased that the case has been resolved, and Akon looks forward to putting this unfortunate incident behind him."
Getting too close
An overeager fan of Lindsay Lohan was arrested early Wednesday in Scottsdale, Ariz., after he is alleged to have pushed a nightclub security guard while trying to get close to the actress. According to police, Lohan and gal-pal Samantha Ronson were trying to leave the Jackrabbit Lounge, and security guards were holding back the crowd. Bouncers said a 38-year-old fan tried to get around them, pushed one of the guards and became disruptive. He was booked on a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge and later released.
All in the band
Jim "Soni" Sonefeld, drummer for Hootie and the Blowfish, married Laura Bryan earlier this month in a private ceremony, a band spokeswoman confirmed. Bryan is the ex-wife of Hootie guitarist Mark Bryan. "We do acknowledge that Jim 'Soni' Sonefeld and Laura Bryan were married Dec. 6, 2008. However we have no further comment on their personal lives," Susan Graham said in a statement.
Keep on learning
"I never think of retirement really. The only reason I ever thought about retiring from the front part of the camera as opposed to the back is sometimes you think, 'How many roles are there for someone my age?' I enjoy working. ... I keep working because I learn something new all the time." -- Clint Eastwood
