Sports satire series finds home

"The Onion Sports Network" series, a satire on sports, has been picked up by Comedy Central, it was announced Wednesday. Comedy Central says the series takes on "teams, players, leagues, sycophantic fans, ridiculous products and over-hyped coverage." Based on the Onion Sports Network's online videos, the half-hour series will premiere in the first quarter of 2011.

Show's creators plan musical

Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of the TV series "South Park," are setting their sights on Broadway. The duo has written a musical comedy called "The Book of Mormon," which is scheduled to open in March 2011. Along with Robert Lopez, one of the creators of "Avenue Q," Parker and Stone wrote the book, music and lyrics to the show. It will be directed by Parker and Jason Moore, who directed "Avenue Q."

Eubanks replacement named

Rickey Minor, music director for "American Idol," will replace Kevin Eubanks as music director of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." Eubanks announced on Monday's show he will leave May 28. On Tuesday, NBC announced Minor is scheduled to debut on the show June 7. Minor, who also has served as music director of the Super Bowl, the Grammy Awards and the NAACP Image Awards, will continue to consult with "Idol" creator Simon Fuller on various projects after the current season.

'Octomom' to be on 'Oprah'

The attorney for Nadya Suleman told the Orange County Register on Tuesday that the mom of octuplets will appear on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" next week. Suleman is expected to discuss how she is raising her 14 children. Jeff Czech says Suleman went to a Los Angeles studio to film a remote interview with Winfrey that is scheduled to air April 20. He also said she will appear in a skit on the "American Idol" charity show "Idol Gives Back" on Wednesday.
