‘Paul Blart’ gets 0% rating on RottenTomatoes.com
Review-Journal critic Chris Lawrence isn’t the only person ganging up on this weekend’s Vegas movie, “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.”
The comedy, filmed last year at the Wynn hotel, is sitting on RottenTomatoes.com with a 0 percent rating from critics.
That’s right. As of Friday evening, zero percent of critics like the Kevin James sequel in which his mall cop character comes to Vegas with his Segway motor scooter.
“ ‘Caddyshack 2.’ ‘Exorcist 2.’ ‘Speed 2.’ To this small sample of the ever-expanding list of wretched movie sequels add ‘Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2,’ a gobsmackingly witless excuse for entertainment,” wrote Peter Howell of the Toronto Star.
Lawrence wrote that there isn’t a single laugh in the whole thing. Which is sad, not just for fans of James, but because the flick was an inaugural recipient of Nevada’s new tax credit to get films made in Vegas.
