Mayor to flip switch on Christmas tree

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman will bring his rosy cheeks to Fremont Street when he flips the switch during the official tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Tuesday on the First Street Stage at the Fremont Street Experience, downtown between Main Street and Las Vegas Boulevard.

Santa Claus will take a break from planning his Christmas visits to join Goodman, along with the cast of the "Holiday Lights on Ice" skating show, which debuts at 6:30 p.m. directly following the tree lighting.

"Holiday Lights on Ice" will be presented at 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday through Dec. 20. The show is free. Call 702-678-5777 for more information.
