Mariah Carey flashes new bling from beau James Packer

Caesars Palace headliner Mariah Carey proudly flashed a bejeweled butterfly necklace from her new boyfriend, Australian billionaire James Packer, and acknowledged he was in the audience during her Wednesday show at The Colosseum.

"I have a new heart tonight," she said. "James is in the house tonight."

She motioned toward him and then dedicated her 1993 hit, "Hero," to him.

She posed with the bling at a meet-and-greet after her show. Her long-held affection for butterflies is well-documented.

Packer's presence at her show and his gift came amid speculation that their romance may have cooled after a weeks-long Mediterranean cruise aboard his yacht.

Packer, in an interview with the Review-Journal, confirmed Carey has agreed to perform in Israel for the first time. He is a supporter Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Packer and his partners are building a $3 billion boutique hotel in Las Vegas.

Norm Clarke's interview with Packer will appear in his Friday column.
