Local youngsters take to stage in ‘The Little Mermaid’

Valley children will be the stars in two performances of an adaptation of the fairy tale "The Little Mermaid."

Presented by the city of Henderson, along with the Missoula Children's Theatre, performances will be at 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday at the Henderson Convention Center, 200 S. Water St., and 3 and 7 p.m. April 18 at the Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St.

Tickets start at $5 and can be purchased at the door of both locations.

This adaptation of a classic fairy tale is the city's 20th partnership with the Missoula Children's Theatre. Actors will include local children from kindergarten through 12th grade.

The full-length production of "The Little Mermaid" includes musical scores, plot surprises and humor. Showgoers will find out what happens when the Little Mermaid Celia and her three sisters visit the world above the sea and discover ferocious dragons, advancing armies and a handsome prince.

The Missoula Children's Theatre has provided education, entertainment and enrichment for all ages through the performing arts for nearly four decades. It continues to captivate audiences with its Broadway musicals, comedies and original children's productions.
