Is this what the 2015 EDC ticket box looks like?
Buying concert tickets these days can be something of an underwhelming experience. Back in the prehistoric days when monolithic creatures roamed the earth freely, fans used to camp out for days waiting for tickets to go on sale to see their favorite band. It was a communal experience. Think “Dazed and Confused.”
Now, of course, it’s all a bunch of wait until the onsale date, click, click, click, print and, well, that’s it. I know, yawn! Zero romance, zero exhilaration. While the good old days are obviously dead and gone and not likely to return anytime soon, at least the folks at Insomniac, Electric Daisy Carnival’s masterminds, are doing what they can to at least add to the intrigue.
Every year, EDC ticket buyers keep an eye on their mailbox for their tickets to be delivered in a special box, with graphics ornately designed for Insomniac by longtime Beatport associates and seasoned EDM artisans, the Firm Graphics out of Denver. In past years in addition to tickets, that box has also included an assortment of other goodies, including a booklet, earplugs and keychain.
No word yet on what this year’s design will look like or what the package will contain, but there’s some chatter online that this pic, tweeted by a Twitter user @edddiemarquez — and retweeted by @EDC_LasVegas, with an added comment of “Could it be?! #EDCLV” — may just offer a sneak peek of this year’s box. Meanwhile, if reddit is to be believed, Insomniac employees are supposedly being issued their boxes this week, while distribution to individual ticket buyers is presumed to follow sometime in the next few weeks.
So is this this year’s EDC ticket box? Hmm…guess we’ll have to wait and see.
