Imagine Dragons is performing in the sky

You can tell Imagine Dragons is from Las Vegas, because the band does fan-friendly marketing with glittery aplomb.

The “Radioactive” rock group will perform on an airplane with super fans while flying them for free to concerts around America.

Imagine Dragons’ new album, “Smoke + Mirrors” comes out Feb. 17. To promote it, the group will play shows Feb. 20 in L.A.; Feb. 21 in Salt Lake City; Feb. 23 at club Vinyl in the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas; and Feb. 25 in Atlanta.

Meanwhile, fans can enter a contest where the winner and three of the winner’s friends get flights from Vegas to Atlanta, plus a hotel stay. That’s the flight on which the band will perform.

Dear longtime Las Vegans. Tell me this doesn’t sound like a Vegas-y stunt. Performing in the sky? And it’s not even the defunct Rio in the Sky or that awesome fake sky in the Venetian, either.
