Henderson presents Shakespeare in the Park

Three free performances of William Shakespeare's classic "Romeo and Juliet" will be presented this weekend in Henderson's Sonata Park, 1550 Seven Hills Drive.

The annual Shakespeare in the Park productions are presented by the city of Henderson Cultural Arts & Tourism Department.

"Romeo and Juliet," with performances at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday, will be performed by Shakespeare At Play, a national traveling theater company featuring award-winning actors, directors, writers and producers.

The tragic Shakespeare love story follows the lives of two young people forced to hide their romance from their feuding families while tempting fate together.

"Shakespeare in the Park has been a cultural tradition for more than 20 years," says Andrea Primo, director of the Cultural Arts & Tourism Department. "Since its inception, the series has brought the community together for a special weekend ... of Shakespeare's greatest comedies, tragedies and romances."
