Pinball tournament, video game expo set

Pinball and video games will be featured this weekend in the World Pinball Championships and the Amusement Showcase International trade show.

The pinball competition, sponsored by the International Flipper Pinball Association, will feature the world's top 64 players from 12 countries competing at the Pinball Hall of Fame, 3330 E. Tropicana Ave.

Tournament hours are from 10 a.m. to midnight today and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

The trade show, featuring the newest in coin-operated amusement, music and video games, will be open to the public from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Las Vegas Convention Center, 3150 Paradise Road.

The Coin-Op Olympics will take place from noon to 4 p.m. with a celebrity tournament from 1 to 3 p.m.

Female artists celebrated Saturday

Support Women Artists Now Day, a daylong celebration of female artists, is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Freakin' Frog, 4700 S. Maryland Parkway.

The day will feature 30 local female artists showcasing their talents in music, film, spoken word, art and theater.

The event is free.
