Events Center becomes first venue to accept Bitcoin

Sammy Hagar made Van Halen nationally relevant again this week, when I quoted him in my column saying that the new Van Halen album, featuring Diamond David Lee Roth, has rough vocals.

Now, Sammy is part of another crazy thing: His group the Circle (with Michael Anthony, Jason Bonham and Vic Johnson) will perform Saturday at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center for Bitcoin.

Wait. Let me not mislead you. This isn’t Sammy’s doing. The Events Center said Friday it will be the first entertainment venue in Vegas to accept Bitcoin, the online-only electronic currency, starting with Sammy’s show.

That’s our Sammy, always part of something crazy and lucrative by design or chance.
