Ethnic groups team up for annual CultureFest

The fourth annual Las Vegas CultureFest, one of the city's largest multicultural gatherings, is set for downtown's Fremont Street Experience Friday through Sunday.

The three-day event, which includes live entertainment, dancing, food, and health and job fairs, is expected to attract more than 35,000 participants. Admission is free, although food and merchandise will be sold by more than 60 small business vendors.

Hours are from 1 p.m. to midnight Friday; 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. The job fair is scheduled from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, and the health fair will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

This year's event honors the heroes of 9/11. The festival brings together a variety of ethnic groups including African-Americans, Hispanics, Asians and Pacific Islanders to display highlights of their cultures.

CultureFest is sponsored by KTNV-TV, Channel 13; Southern Nevada Water District; Fremont Street Experience; and KISF-FM 103.5 and KCEP-FM 88.1. It is coordinated and produced by Culturally Diverse Advertising, Media Relations and Special Events LLC.
