Don’t Miss It

THE VILLAGE PEOPLE

The sextet that did more for the art of forming letters with your body than a pack of cheerleaders plays Primm, which is pretty much as far away as you can get from the group's Greenwich Village beginnings. Also featured are fellow disco-era stalwarts Sister Sledge and Rose Royce. The party begins at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Star of the Desert Arena at Buffalo Bill's. Tickets are $21.95-$38.45; call (800) 386-7867.

RALPHIE MAY

The big guy with the XXXL sense of humor returns to the South Point, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South, for shows at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday. Most of us met May during his stint on the first edition of TV's "Last Comic Standing," where he was, what's the word, robbed of a first-place win. But no matter. A packed showroom is the best revenge. Tickets are $25-$35; call 797-8055.

CELEBRATION OF THE KING

Elvis Presley is long gone but not even remotely forgotten. This weekend, fans of the King can bask in the glow of all things Elvis at the Celebration of the King at the Cannery, 2121 E. Craig Road. The event runs at 8 p.m. today and Saturday, and scheduled to appear are Johnny Fortuno, The Stamps Quartet and such Elvis colleagues as bodyguard Sonny West, "Kissin' Cousins" co-star Cynthia Pepper and "Blue Hawaii" co-star Darlene Tompkins. Tickets are $10 at the door; call 617-5585.

2009 AVN ADULT MOVIE AWARDS SHOW

Know what we love most about the adult film industry's annual awards ceremony? It's the only time all year that we can call the AVN Web site up on our computer and not get fired. Anyway, the 26th annual AVN awards ceremony begins at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Mandalay Bay Events Center, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South, and awards adult film actors in categories you'll never see at the Oscars. Tickets are $107-$212; call 632-7580.

CENTENNIAL HILLS LIBRARY GRAND OPENING

Who wouldn't be suckers for buildings filled to the brim with free books, CDs and DVDs? That's why we'll be at Saturday's grand opening of the new Centennial Hills Library, 6711 N. Buffalo Drive. Light refreshments will be served at the 11 a.m. ribbon-cutting, after which the library starts doing its thing with a meet-the-artist event with Linda Alterwitz at 1 p.m., and an "Under the Deep Blue Sea Storytime" at 3 p.m.
