Dealers offering free appraisals at stamp show

A commemorative postage stamp issued by Liberia that honors president-elect Barack Obama will be on sale this weekend at the Coin, Currency, Jewelry & Stamp Show in Las Vegas.

The expo, which features dealers from throughout the United States, displays a wide variety of worldwide investment-grade and collector-quality merchandise.

The show will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in the first-floor meeting rooms of the Skyrise Tower at Circus Circus, 2880 Las Vegas Blvd. South. General admission is $3; $2 for seniors; and free for children younger than 14. Free covered parking is available in the adjacent Skyrise Tower Garage.

Millions of dollars in gold and silver coins and currency will be available for viewing and purchase at the show. Many dealers also will provide free appraisals, and cash offers often are made on the spot. In addition, collectors can receive free advice and guidance on how to start or improve collections. Door prizes will be awarded every hour.

An area will be set up to collect "Stamps for Soldiers," used stamps that are distributed to disabled veterans for art projects.
