Dam Short Film Festival Schedule
The sixth annual Dam Short Film Festival runs today through Saturday at the Boulder Theatre, 1225 Arizona St., Boulder City; the film market, filmmaker/press lounger and filmmaker brunch will be at the Boulder Dam Hotel, 1305 Arizona St. The festival mixer will be at the Boulder Dam Brewing Co., 453 Nevada Way.
Tickets are $6 per program; Saturday's Awards Gala is $12. A three-day pass is $50; festival and ticket information is available online at www.damshortfilm.org.

11:30 a.m. Drama A: Life Challenges
From an unemployed man to a dying father, people grapple with unexpected events.
1:15 p.m. Drama B: Weird Worlds
A dozen avant-garde and other creatively original films.
3:30 p.m. Documentary A: Our Culture
What your neighbors are actually doing, from playing wiffle ball to growing a moustache.

7 p.m. Showcase A: Best of the Art Institutes
Animation, live-action, and documentary work by students, instructors and alumni from the Art Institute of Las Vegas and other locations.

Strange events in the not-so-distant future.
10:30 p.m. Horror: Monsters & Mayhem
Deadly food, vampires and psycho hillbillies serve up bloody terror. (Not suitable for children.)

A half-dozen selections show off the talents of Silver State filmmakers.
10:45 p.m. Underground
Off-the-wall humor and unacceptable behavior punctuate these 10 shorts from Nevada, Australia and points in between. (Not suitable for children.)

9 a.m. Drama H: Family Time!
Fun for all ages with a mix of live-action and animation. (Children under 9 free.)

Noon, Filmmaker Panel
In the basement conference room of the Boulder Dam Hotel, guest filmmakers discuss their experiences over coffee and pastries in a brunch open to pass- and ticket stub-holders.
