Celebs in odd places

Eight years ago, Jordin Sparks won "American Idol" at 17, and at 2 p.m. Saturday, she will perform for free on the runway in the middle of Fashion Show Mall on the Las Vegas Strip.

That sounds like an unusual performance space, but that's how she and Sony Music have decided to promote her third album, "Right Here Right Now," in mall properties.

The post-Internet music industry has circled back to its mall roots.

Meanwhile, Las Vegan Coolio will join NFL hero Jerry Rice to raise money for a Make-A-Wish cause at Hyde Bellagio, 8-10 p.m. Saturday. Tickets cost $49.

And Japanese Kabuki actor Ichikawa Somegoro will star in a rare live collaboration at the free Bellagio Fountains show at 9:15 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, during a special presentation of the Kabuki classic "Koi Tsukami" ("Fight with a Carp"), as battle scenes play out as projections on the water. How cool does that sound?
