Black History Month Festival set for Saturday

The Springs Preserve Black History Month Festival, featuring activities for all ages, will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Springs Amphitheater, 333 S. Valley View Blvd.

Admission is $5 for adults and free for children 12 and younger.

Festivities include a children's film festival featuring "The Princess and the Frog," the 2011 Historic Black Las Vegas Photo Exhibit, musical entertainment, theatrical performances, carnival games, face-painting and a variety of vendors selling African-American food, cultural art and gift items.

Film historian Stan Armstrong will focus attention on black-oriented historical events in West Las Vegas during the civil rights era.

The festival is sponsored by Caesars Entertainment.
