THE COUNTERFEITERS

This year's Oscar-winner for best foreign-language film, from Austria, takes place in a World War II concentration camp, where a Nazi officer (Devid Striesow) enlists a master forger (Karl Markovics) in a scheme to counterfeit Allied currency. In German with English subtitles. Part of the CineVegas screening series at Neonopolis. (98 minutes.) R; intense violence, nudity.

LEATHERHEADS

The Roaring '20s hit the gridiron in this romantic comedy, set during pro football's stone age, about a brash owner/player (George Clooney, who also directs) trying to save his ragtag team by recruiting a college star ("The Office's" John Krasinski), whose heroic war tales attract the attention of a suspicious reporter (Renée Zellweger). At multiple locations. (114 minutes.) PG-13; brief profanity.

NIM'S ISLAND

When her scientist father ("300's" Gerard Butler) disappears from their remote island home, the title character ("Little Miss Sunshine's" Abigail Breslin) appeals for help to swashbuckling Alex Rover, author (and hero) of her favorite adventure books -- little dreaming that Alex (Jodie Foster) is really an agoraphobic klutz ill-equipped for life on Nim's island. At multiple locations. (95 minutes.) PG; mild adventure action, brief profanity.

THE RUINS

A leisurely Mexican vacation turns terrifying when a group of friends (led by Jonathan Tucker, Jena Malone, Shawn Ashmore, Laura Ramsey and Joe Anderson) leave the beach and venture into the jungle, intent on exploring an archaeological dig where something -- strange, evil and deadly -- is still alive and intent on exterminating them. At multiple locations. R; strong violence and gruesome images, profanity, sexual situations, nudity.

SHINE A LIGHT

Director Martin Scorsese, who made his rock-documentary debut as an editor on 1970's "Woodstock," focuses on the Rolling Stones' 2006 "Bigger Bang" gig at New York's Beacon Theater, contrasting the now-legendary rockers with interview footage from their bad-boys '60s roots. At multiple locations; in IMAX at Palms and Red Rock. (120 minutes.) PG-13; brief profanity, drug references, smoking.
