Small Plates: World pizza champion opens Pizza Rock downtown

Pizza Rock, from 11-time World Pizza Champion Tony Gemignani, opened downtown last month, offering (besides pizza) calzones, stromboli, pasta dishes, antipasti and salads, much of it made in one of Pizza Rock’s four ovens.

Wine of the Week: Crawford Family Wines Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir

Crawford Family Pinot Noir is a deeply opaque garnet-red color with a dense blackish-red core going out into a fine vermillion to pinkish rim definition with medium-high viscosity.

Taste of the Town: Readers spot Kona coffee

Gotta love that Kona coffee, which has a rich, full-bodied flavor stemming from its growing conditions on the Big Island of Hawaii. Unfortunately, Kona’s pretty pricey — among the most expensive coffees in the world — so I wasn’t surprised when Taste of the Town regular Jim Guynup emailed in search of a source for it “at a reasonable price.” I’m not sure what’s reasonable — that’s open to wide interpretation — but readers have a few local sources.
