Magician Mac King will perform a magic show and have a book signing for "Mac King's Magic in a Minute Great Big Ol' Book-O-Magic" 1-3 p.m. Sunday at Barnes and Noble, 8915 W. Charleston Blvd.

The Henderson Writers' Group offers a writing workshop series "Be the Next Bestselling Author" at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Las Vegas Library, 833 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Book discussions on "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road, and Spring Valley Library, 4280 S. Jones Blvd.

Mornings with Mari Book Club meets at 10 a.m. the third Saturday of each month; the Best Book You've Never Read book group meets the second Sunday of the month at 7 p.m.; Our Desert Hearts book group meets at 7 p.m. the third Thursday of the month at Barnes and Noble, 8915 W. Charleston Blvd.

The Science Fiction & Fantasy Club (SNAFFU) meets at 2 p.m. the fourth Sunday of each month at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.

Borders bookstore, has a writers' group at 7 p.m. Wednesdays, 2190 N. Rainbow Blvd.

The Amazing Reads Book Club meets at 7 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd.
