Don’t Miss It
Comedy
RAY ROMANO AND KEVIN JAMES
Everybody who loved Monday nights on CBS should love tonight and Saturday night at The Mirage. Ray Romano, the former "Everybody Loves Raymond" star and self-effacing familial-disaster humor king, goes back-to-back once again with Kevin James, the comedian buddy whom he helped land the "King of Queens" sitcom in 1998. Don't leave after Romano's set, though, because he and James re-emerge together at the end for jokes and a Q&A. (Romano follows the same format when headlining here over former co-star Brad Garrett.) 10 p.m. today and Saturday at The Mirage, 3400 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $121; call 792-7777.
SMOTHERS BROTHERS
The times have changed drastically around '60s icons Tom and Dick, known for letting sibling rivalry interrupt their folk music. But the bantering brothers haven't changed with them. And since the times pretty much suck now, we like that. You will, too. 8 p.m. today through Sunday in the Showroom at The Orleans, 4500 W. Tropicana Ave. Tickets are $44-$66; call 365-7075.
GREAT CRAFT FESTIVAL
You won't find an original Dali here, but you might find a cute dolly. More than 300 exhibitors of handmade crafts flock from 10 Western states to this twice-annual event, celebrating its 25th year. And if you're a straight guy and want to get really crafty, there's no better place to show up and lie about liking pottery. (About 80 percent of the 15,000 expected attendees will be female, according to festival founder Steve Powers.) 10 a.m.-6 p.m. today and Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday in the Cashman Center Exhibit Hall, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Tickets are $8, $7 for seniors, free for kids 17 and under; call (805) 481-4035.
STRUT YOUR MUTT
A dog day afternoon is on tap for an expected 1,200 canines and their human companions. The 20th annual festival features informational booths and contests including the best belly scratch, doggie limbo and, our favorite, the R-J newspaper fetch. New tricks include diving showcases in a 23,000-gallon tank. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at Dog Fanciers Park, 5800 E. Flamingo Road. Admission is $2, free with donation of a bag of dry dog food, gently used toys, bedding, doghouses or blankets. Call 455-8200.
MUDVAYNE
We hear Peoria's gift to heavy metal has lightened up on its upcoming fourth album. Expect more ear-soothing and less bone-crushing with "The New Game," which the band is expected to preview. (But bring your earplugs just in case.) 8 p.m. Wednesday at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel, 4455 Paradise Road. Tickets are $33 and $66; call 693-5066.
