‘Land of the Lost’ hitting big screen
Movie: "Land of the Lost"
When: Opening Friday at local theaters
Cast: Will Ferrell, Anna Friel, Danny McBride
Director: Brad Silberling
The story: On his latest expedition, Dr. Rick Marshall finds himself sucked into a space-time vortex -- and zapped into an alternate universe of dinosaurs and other fantastic creatures.
The buzz: Marshall, Will, Holly and Sleestaks, oh my! They're all back, along with friendly primate Chaka, in a revamp of the '70s TV favorite, which focused on a park ranger and his two kids. Now that "Land of the Lost" is on the big screen, the kids are big, too, metamorphosing into an all-grown-up research assistant (Friel) and a redneck survivalist (McBride). And while director Silberling has plenty of serious credits on his resume, from "City of Angels" to "Moonlight Mile," he's also an old hand at family-friendly adaptations, having helmed "Casper" and "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events."
