QUICK TAKES

They're ready

"Bruno," which stars Sacha Baron Cohen as an over-the-top Austrian fashion enthusiast hasn't put off some fashion designers. Lena Hoschek, who has designed pop star Katy Perry's '50s-style clothes, says she's looking forward to the movie. And Munich-based designer Marcel Ostertag also is looking forward to the film, although he's worried it might skew people's perception of the fashion industry. "The world of fashion isn't really like what he shows," Ostertag said. "I can laugh about it because I liked 'Borat,' but I am also worried if people will take him seriously."

Drummer remembered

Runaways drummer Sandy West was honored with a chain-saw-sculpted statue of a mermaid playing an electric guitar and a monument inlaid with a pair of her drumsticks at a ceremony in Dana Point, Calif., on Friday. The pieces were created by Runaways singer Cherie Currie. West died in 2006 of cancer that spread from her lungs to her brain. The Runaways were a groundbreaking all-female band that also boasted members such as Joan Jett and Lita Ford. A movie about their career, starring Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart, is in the works.

Designer in crash

Zandra Rhodes, a celebrity fashion designer whose clients have included Princess Diana, crashed her car through the front window of a hardware store in San Diego, leaving a 42-year-old customer injured. Rhodes confirmed she was in the crash Tuesday, but didn't want to discuss the cause of the accident. San Diego fire spokesman Maurice Luque says the customer in the Meanley & Son Ace Hardware store was struck when the car hit the store. She was taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. Rhodes said she wasn't injured. It was not immediately known if charges would be filed.

Turner welcomes son

MCA Nashville announced on Tuesday that country singer Josh Turner and his wife, Jennifer, welcomed a son, Colby Lynch Turner, on Friday. The couple also has a 2-year-old. Turner, whose hits include "Long Black Train," "Your Man" and "Firecracker," said in a statement that his producer jokingly told his wife she needed to wait until he finished his fourth album. He wrapped up the album at 6 p.m. June 26, and by 10:30 p.m., his wife was at the hospital.

Price recovering

Grammy-winning country musician Ray Price is recovering in Texas after surgery to remove polyps from his colon, his spokesman said. Bobby Roberts, who is the singer's agent, says Price was admitted to the hospital on June 22 for routine tests when a colonoscopy revealed polyps in the precancerous stage. Roberts said the surgery was completed the next day and that Price, 83, was alert and expects to be on the road in a few weeks. Price's 1950s honky-tonk hits include "Crazy Arms" and "Heartaches by the Number."
