Bergen leaves ‘Jersey Boys’
Singer and actor Erich Bergen, one of the Palazzo's "Jersey Boys," has left the hit show, in which he played Four Seasons member Bob Gaudio.
Bergen confirmed his departure in a prepared statement, acknowledging "I am no longer involved with 'Jersey Boys,' " in an e-mail to the Review-Journal.
Bergen last appeared with the Las Vegas "Jersey Boys" cast on a Sept. 9 "America's Got Talent" broadcast and was on vacation when production officials informed him he would not be returning to the role he had played for three years on tour and in Las Vegas.
Bergen's representatives and the show's production companies, Dodger Theatricals and BASE Entertainment, "are negotiating a mutually acceptable and beneficial separation agreement," according to Maria Somma, spokeswoman for Actors' Equity, the stage actors' union. "It's between the two of them."
Bergen's manager, Lori Danziger of New York-based Persona Management, said Bergen was "not at liberty to comment" on his departure.
In addition to his work with "Jersey Boys," Bergen co-produced and performed at an August tribute to Michael Jackson at the Palms that raised more than $100,000 for the Clark County School District. He also participated in an August benefit for the Liberace Museum's Cabaret Showroom.
Although "it saddens me to think that I won't get the chance to perform in the show anymore," Bergen said in his e-mailed statement, "all I can do is look forward. I love Las Vegas with all my heart and am proud of my work there. I won't be gone for long."
