QUICK TAKES
Band to open stadium
When the new $1.6 billion stadium that will be the home of the New York Giants and Jets opens next spring, Bon Jovi will play the kickoff concert. An official announcement is expected today, but The Record in Hackensack, N.J., reported it after an official familiar with the plans spoke on the condition of anonymity. Bon Jovi's new album, "The Circle," will be released in November.
Stage for sale
The group that owns the dilapidated and long-closed Fairmount High School in Indiana is trying to find a buyer to salvage the school's stage where James Dean first performed. Madison-Grant Youth Basketball League treasurer Matt Patton says the group has no estimate on how much the stage is worth. Dean grew up on a farm near Fairmount and graduated from the school -- which will be demolished -- in 1949. He appeared in "Rebel Without a Cause" before he died in a 1955 car crash when he was 24.
Wilson gets show
Carnie Wilson, who was in the pop group Wilson Phillips and is the daughter of Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, will appear in a new TV reality series. "Carnie Wilson: Unstapled" is set to debut in January on GSN, which also airs "The Newlywed Game" hosted by Wilson. The series is a departure for the cable channel, but is the result of viewer response to Wilson, said Kelly Goode, GSN's senior vice president for original programming and development.
Producer honored
John Lasseter, who created "Toy Story" and is an animation pioneer, will be honored by the Producers Guild of America. The David O. Selznick Achievement Award will be presented to Lasseter at the guild's award show Jan. 24. Past recipients include Clint Eastwood, Jerry Bruckheimer, Stanley Kramer and Billy Wilder. Lasseter directed "Toy Story," "Toy Story 2," "A Bug's Life" and "Cars." He is in charge of animation at Pixar and Disney.
