Johnson doesn’t sound like today’s Nashville
October 30, 2009 - 9:00 pm
Jamey Johnson is a country traditionalist who doesn't sound like anything else coming out of Nashville these days -- and that is a good thing.
He's a bit of an anachronism, someone who sounds like he belongs to the early '70s outlaw country movement that kicked off years before he was born. With a wizened, commanding voice steeped in heartache and pathos, Johnson just might be Music City's redemption.
See Jamey Johnson at 7 p.m. Saturday in the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $26-$28.50; call 632-7600.
