Swingin’ Pedestrians mix roots rock, rockabilly, swing

The Swingin' Pedestrians bring a new energy to the old school with their revved-up rock 'n' roll revivalism. Band leader Tony Felicetta tells us how it's done:

What do the Swingin' Pedestrians sound like?

"High energy roots rock, mixed with some rockabilly and swing."

You've got a pretty rich and diverse musical pedigree among yourselves, having played with the likes of Blue Man Group, Oingo Boingo, "Jersey Boys," "BeatleShow," to name a few. What did you initially bond over musically to bring you all together?

"Being able to play fun, old style music that no other band is doing and not needing to compete with all the classic rock bands playing the usual songs is what allows us to be different and have fun onstage."

You guys have developed a following in the burlesque scene. How was that cultivated?

"It started at the Divebar with the Vegas Vixens, then a show at the Beauty Bar with Babes in Sin. Cha Cha Velour, Lou Lou Roxy, Vi Vacious, Karla Joy and Trinity have danced with us many times. We're the only band in town that these dancers can perform their old school burlesque tunes with. I have also performed playing drums behind headliner Tempest Storm at the Burlesque Hall of Fame shows."

The Swingin' Pedestrians are regulars at the Freakin' Frog on Wednesday nights, which has among the biggest beer selections in town. Discovered any new favorite brews from playing there?

"Great place! I like Pipeline and Black Butte -- and the beers that are 11 percent alcohol!"
