Art exhibit explores feelings of paths not taken
An air of missed opportunity and regret takes center stage in "I Told You So," an exhibit by local artist and educator Toshie McSwain on display at Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive.
The exhibit can be viewed from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays through Aug. 6. The center is closed Sundays and Mondays. Call 455-7340 for details.
In "I Told You So," nine paintings represent individual journeys into experiences of having no voice and no value, McSwain says. All create a dark, or strange, humor.
McSwain is an art educator at the Imagine School of the Valle. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Ohio, along with the Haydon Art Center in Lincoln, Neb., and the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District. This is her first solo exhibit. McSwain earned her bachelor's degree in education with emphasis in two-dimensional studies and painting from Bowling Green State University.
