White beans are suspended in a vegetable broth with pancetta and a sprinkling of herbs. It's normally $7 but on special for $6 this month.

A vegetarian riff on a classic, it's made with a blond miso base and is a personal favorite of executive chef Todd Harrington. It's $12.

Winter Soup Flight

Classic Onion Soup Au Gratin with bubbling Gruyere cheese, Four-Mushroom Soup with herb-brioche croutons and cream of root vegetable soup, which features a new seasonal variety each week; $6.95 for the flight.

Matzo ball

Cafe Cortez, El Cortez

Housemade chicken soup with vegetables and matzo balls, which are made fresh daily with a little schmaltz, $5.25.

Lobster bisque

Lobster ME, Miracle Mile Shops

Creamy bisque finished with brandy and lobster and served in a bread bowl, $9.
