Here are three CDs worth a listen
Three new CDs worth checking out:
Cynic, “Kindly Bent to Free Us”: Cynic may have started out as a technical death metal band two decades ago, but they’ve since evolved into one of the leading voices in prog rock with a sound more nuanced than pummeling, “Kindly” being among their most adventurous, melodically refined works.
Lydia Loveless, “Somewhere Else”: There’s nowhere else we’d rather be than in the presence of this Columbus, Ohio, alt-country femme fatale who makes even heartache sound strangely inviting here.
Sahg, “Delusions of Grandeur”: Epic, interstellar hard rock from Norway as far out as the space-borne astronaut on the album cover. The grandeur here is no delusion.
