Stevie Wonder to celebrate ‘Songs in the Key of Life’ in Vegas
It’s one the greatest R&B albums of all time.
Stevie Wonder’s masterful 1976 double-album “Songs in the Key of Life,” equally ambitious topically and musically, remains among the soul icon’s definitive works.
This fall, Wonder will embark on the “Songs of the Key of Life Performance” tour, and Vegas is one of but 11 American cities where it will stop, hitting the MGM Grand Garden arena on Nov. 29.
Wonder last performed in Las Vegas at The Cosmopolitan on New Year’s Eve 2011.
Last December at Wonder’s annual House Full of Toys benefit show in Los Angeles, Wonder performed “Songs in the Key of Life” in its entirety, setting the stage for his upcoming outing.
According to Rolling Stone magazine, it was a three-hour show — with an intermission — with more than 20 musicians on stage at most times, including many who played on the record.
Tickets for the show go on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 29.
