5 cheap music shows around town this weekend
WHAT ABOUT BOB?
After more than a month on the road in support of its fine Antique Records 7-inch, "Breakfast After Noon," Bobby Meader Music returns home to Las Vegas for a show at Backstage Bar & Billiards with Blue Coraline, Poster Life and Brittany Rose. Tickets are $5, and the show starts at 8 p.m. Friday.
CINDERELLA MAN
While Cinderella's logo is on the poster and he'll certainly be playing songs that band made famous, Tom Keifer isn't living in the past, resting on laurels that are decades old. He's got a solo record out, and it's not bad. Catch Keifer at Count's Vamp'd on Friday. The show starts at 8:30; tickets are $20.
WITHOUT A DOUBT
No Duh is evidently the No. 1 No Doubt tribute band in America. Take that for what it's worth. We can't say how many others actually exist. Whatever the case, this Orange County combo does justice to the "Tragic Kingdom" quartet. Stop by the House of Blues on Aug. 20 and see for yourself. Tickets are $12, and the show starts at 7 p.m.
GUITAR CENTER
Robert Sarzo is probably best known for being a member of Hurricane and Geoff Tate's version of Queensryche. These days, the Cuban-born guitarist is still shredding, but he's fronting an outfit of his own performing "A Salute to Santana." Catch him at Count's Vamp'd for free Saturday with Doors tribute band Mojo Rising.
FORWARD MOTION
Motion Potion is an old-school DJ who puts a ton of thought and consideration into which songs make it into his set. Not your typical DJ, MoPo plays a wide variety of tunes that appeal to everyone from funk fans to jam-band fans. See what he's got in store for Las Vegas this Friday and Saturday for free at Brooklyn Bowl.
