Huckabee, with Kim Davis, isn’t the first politician to anger a musician — VIDEO

The songwriters of Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" immediately spoke out and threatened action after the song was used at a support rally Wednesday for Kentucky clerk Kim Davis.

Jim Peterik, who co-wrote the song, said the use of the song did not reflect his views and that his publisher would issue a cease and desist letter. In response to the usage, the song's other writer, Frankie Sullivan, said, "I would not grant her the rights to use Charmin!"

"I was gobsmacked," Peterik told CNN. "We were not asked about this at all. The first time we saw it was on national TV."

Davis, who was briefly jailed after rejecting the Supreme Court's decision on same-same marriage by denying marriage licenses, was joined on stage with Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, who CNN reported was behind the song choice. But this wasn't the first time a politician has made a musician angry by using a song without permission — in fact, it happens nearly every election cycle.

On Thursday, R.E.M. spoke out against Donald Trump for using their song "It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" at a Capitol Hill Tea Party rally.

"Go f--- yourselves, you sad, attention-grabbing, power-hungry, little men," lead singer Michael Stipe said in an email to the Daily Beast. "Do not use our music or my voice for your moronic charade of a campaign."

In 1984, Bruce Springsteen dedicated "Born in the U.S.A." to workers at a local union after it was used by Ronald Reagan. The song was used after a conservative columnist, George Will, attended a concert earlier that year and praised Springsteen as representation of American values. Will ended up suggesting the use of the song for Reagan and it was used at events. It's unknown if Reagan was aware of The Boss' famous Liberal affiliation.

More recently, politicians have been using songs without understanding or permission on a more frequent basis. Here are seven examples of that:
