Chris Rock will be host for Oscars next year

LOS ANGELES — Chris Rock has been confirmed as host of the 88th Academy Awards, producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin announced on Wednesday.

Variety reported on Tuesday that the comedian was in serious talks to return for his second stint as Oscar host. He previously hosted the awards show in 2005.

"I'm so glad to be hosting the Oscars," said Rock in a statement. "It's great to be back."
