Three players from the west side of the valley are making waves in tennis. Summerlin-area resident Kimberly Yee recently received the Bill Talbert Junior Sportsmanship Award, the nation’s highest junior tennis award, at the International Tennis Hall of Fame, while valley tennis players William Elmore and McKay Novak each were awarded $10,000 scholarships.

TENNIS COACHES’ WORKSHOP SCHEDULED
The LV Neon 97 brought home first place in the 2014 U.S. Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup July 13 in Greenville, S.C., in the under 17 boys category. This is the first time a Las Vegas team has won first place in the tournament. The team is coached by Jorge A. Lorza and Jose Perez.
A new ice skating program at the SOBE Ice Arena at the Fiesta Rancho, 2400 N. Rancho Drive, is not only allowing kids to learn a new skill but is enabling them to come out of their shells through performance.
