Sphere headliner doubles dates in ‘27 run
John Mayer has definitively answered any questions about ticket demand for his Sphere residency.
Mayer has doubled the dates to a dozen in his “Solo + Full Band + John Mayer Trio” series at the Bulbous Wonder. The new dates are April 28 and 30, and May 1, 5, 7 and 8. Previously announced shows are April 8, 10, 11, 15, 17 and 18. The run was announced Wednesday morning on Sphere’s social-media channels.
General onsale is 10 a.m. Friday for Mayer’s first solo residency at Sphere. Tickets are expected to start at $129. Artist Presale registration for the newly announced dates is available now at JohnMayer.com. Fans who previously registered can access tickets for all dates.
The added dates respond to the hundreds of thousands of Mayer fans who flooded the presale queues.
Mayer will play the series in three formats: The solo section features the frontman primarily on his acoustic, with electric and piano segments. The trio features Steve Jordan on drums (he has replaced Charlie Watts in the Rolling Stones) and bassist Pino Palladino (he replaced John Entwistle in The Who).
Mayer’s full band has not been announced. He has summoned a 10-piece band in previous live shows, with Jordan and Palladino on the roster.
The 48-year-old Mayer was a sideman in Dead & Company’s “Dead Forever: Live at Sphere” residency. The show ran for 48 performances from May 2024 to May 2025 and featured some of co-founder Bob Weir’s final performances.
The show captured Pollstar’s Residency of the Year award in 2025. Mayer designed much of the audio and video psychedelia behind the scenes.
