Heavy metal legends announce dates at Sphere

Metallica has answered what it terms “fever pitch speculation”at Sphere, and the news is good.

The hard-rock legends have announced their “Life Burns Faster” residency on Oct. 1 and 3, 15 and 17, 22 and 24, and 29 and 31. The band’s engagement continues the “No Repeat Weekend” approach of the kickoff of its “M72 World Tour” in 2023 — no songs repeated on each Thursday and Saturday throughout the course of the run.

The calendar allows expansion into December, should the dates merit that demand. And you can expect they will. We reported in January that October and also December were planned, and that this deal was signed months ago.

Two-night No Repeat Weekend tickets and single-night tickets will go on sale 10 a.m. Pacific time March 6. To register for tickets or for further information regarding pre-sales, enhanced experiences, travel packages and more, visit metallica.lnk.to/MetallicaSphere.

The band teased to the residency on social media, blasting the band’s famed logo and “No Leaf Clover” to the masses.

The production would coincide with the 40th anniversary of “Master of Puppets,” the band’s first gold album. Metallica is first heavy metal band to play Sphere. They were also the first metal band to play Allegiant Stadium, in February 2022.

The classic lineup of James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo close their “M72” world tour July 5 in London. That leaves sufficient time to build a Sphere-caliber production.

Ulrich said in a statement, “About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ’23, I thought ‘We have to do this, it’s completely uncharted territory!’ This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months time, and way f——- psyched to go next level!”

All band members made an “unbilled,” and attempted covert, appearance at Sphere for the Eagles show on Jan. 30. It wasn’t just to bask in “Peaceful Easy Feeling.” This was also a scouting mission.
