The China National Symphony Orchestra treated a small but appreciative and enthusiastic audience to what proved to be the finest orchestral performance of the season at Ham Hall on Wednesday. The orchestra, led meticulously and expressively by its principal guest conductor, En Shao, demonstrated delicacy, grace, accuracy, superb training and, when called for, muscle.
The New York City Ballet, founded by George Balanchine and Lincoln Kirstein, debuted its elegant style more than 60 years ago. Its offspring, the Moves group, is now in its sixth year and performed at The Smith Center Tuesday.

Too bad Cole Porter already has dibs on the title “Anything Goes.” If only Porter hadn’t written it in 1934, “Anything Goes” would be a perfect title for the Composers Showcase of Las Vegas.
