Slayton, Stern alumni on same team for guy comedy

Bobby Slayton says there are “six reasons I love coming to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl: Super Bowl, gamblin’, drinkin’, no wife, no wife, no wife.”

The raspy-voiced comedian known as the “Pitbull of Comedy” (which could be confusing on the same weekend Pitbull is in town) spent much of the latter 2000s in resident showcases at Hooters Hotel and the Tropicana.

This time he’s back for a South Point weekend with Jackie “The Joke Man” Martling and “Stuttering John” Melendez, both best known for their days on “The Howard Stern Show.”

Slayton says he doesn’t know either that well. “I started going on (rival radio hosts) Opie and Anthony and it’s usually one or the other.” One thing he does know: “I’m not working with a puppet or a tiger.”

Slayton was originally co-billed with veteran comedian Kevin Pollak, who had to bow out when his documentary “Misery Loves Comedy” was picked up by the Sundance Film Festival. But Slayton is in the documentary about comedians, so he’s happy to soldier on.
