Six Picks: Kenny Loggins, metallic drone, ‘Seeking a Friend,’ snakes, Luckyrice, Rebecca & Fiona
Kenny Loggins
Kenny Loggins is a dependable visitor, as much a part of a Vegas summer as a family reunion. You know his songs the way you know all your cousin’s stories, and they generally age better. The yacht rock kicks off at 8 p.m. Saturday on the outdoor grounds of Sunset Station, 1301 W. Sunset Road. Tickets are $40.50-$73.50; call 547-5300.

Author & Punisher
By day, Tristan Shone is a mechanical engineer and researcher in sound interface design. By night, he’s Author & Punisher, a one-man metallic drone band who creates impenetrable doom via self-fabricated machines. You’ve never seen, or heard, anything like it. Author & Punisher performs at 9 p.m. today at Yayo Taco, 4632 S. Maryland Parkway. Show is $5; call 262-0201.

‘Seeking a Friend’
With three weeks left before an asteroid destroys Earth, Steve Carell and Keira Knightley hit the road in “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.” A huge supporting cast – including Connie Britton, Adam Brody, Rob Corddry, Gillian Jacobs, Patton Oswalt and William Petersen – gets a chance to shine in the film that’s dark, deep, silly, sad and clever as hell.

‘Envenomators’
Snakes. Why does it always have to be snakes? Unless you share Indiana Jones’ revulsion for reptiles, the Springs Preserve is where it’s at when it comes to slithery things, with the exhibit “Envenomators: The Venomous Snakes of North America” and the live show “Venom!” offering plenty of fangs for the memory. Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd., is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily; admission is $9.95 for adults, $4.95 for kids 5-17 and free for the under-5 tykes.
