Carly Rae Jepsen to play the Venetian on New Year’s Eve
It’s been a while since Carly Rae Jepsen ruled the airwaves, since her tune “Call Me Maybe” grabbed radio programmers in an unrelenting death grip and didn’t let go until it reached ubiquitous status. Seems like just yesterday that that song was being played continuously around the clock, spawning a countless cavalcade of memes. Hard to believe that was actually three years ago or so. Yeah, time flies.
While it remains to be seen if the Canadian singer will enjoy that sort of success this time around, she’s certainly off to a running start. The push began at the end of August with the release of her latest album, “E·MO·TION,” and it continues in earnest this week with a video that just dropped for “Your Type,” the album’s first single. Next week, the pop star is set to hit the road in support of her new record on a tour that is slated to make a stop in Las Vegas just before the end of the year.
The pop star is planning to be in town to help ring in the New Year with three shows at the Venentian on Wednesday, Dec. 30, Thursday, Dec. 31 and Saturday, Jan. 2. Tickets for the non-New Year’s Eve shows start at $55, while admission for that festive evening starts at $75.50, and they all go on sale Thursday at 10 a.m. at Venetian.com or in person at the Venetian or Palazzo box office.
