Passengers at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas got an early start on celebrating New Year’s Eve with a “silent disco.”

If your New Year’s plans include alcohol, the Nevada Highway Patrol wants to remind motorists there are several ways to get home safely and avoid costly DUI-related costs and jail time.
Fireworks by Grucci will launch more than 80,000 fireworks from seven hotel rooftops. The eight-minute pyrotechnics show will be synced with snippets of ten songs, including Mariah Carey’s rendition of “Auld Lang Syne” and the Vegas Golden Knights entrance song.
“Just don’t do it is basically the message here,” said Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Laura Meltzer, adding that celebratory gunfire on New Year’s Eve is an issue in the Las Vegas Valley.
The Clark County Department of Air Quality issued a smoke advisory for Monday and Tuesday because of fireworks, urging those sensitive to air-quality conditions to consult their physicians and limit exposure to pollutants.
Preparations are under way for America’s Party Downtown at the Fremont Street Experience, where officials anticipate a crowd of about 40,000 people on New Years Eve.
