YG rhyming about hard knock ‘Life’
If Kendrick Lamar has emerged as the conscience of West Coast hip-hop, YG readily serves as its id.
“I just wanna party,” the rapper announces on the song of the same name from his well-received 2014 debut, “My Krazy Life.” “I don’t wanna hurt nobody.”
YG’s then quick to point out however, that he will, in fact, knock you out if the situation demands as much.
And so it goes for YG, spinning alternately freewheeling and fierce tales equally posited on growing up hard and taking it easy over hazy synth lines and clapping beats.
It’s plenty messy, but that’s “Life.”
