Chvrches emoting at Brooklyn Bowl
Scottish trio Chvrches conjure a synthesizer dream world, cooling heated emotions with decidedly more temperate electronics.
Singer Lauren Mayberry threatens and seduces atop buoyant keys and pneumatic digital beats, her voice sweet and comforting, her words often much less so.
“I am gonna break you down / To tiny, tiny parts,” she sings on “Gun” from the band’s 2013 debut “The Bones of What You Believe,” an album that sets heavy emotions against a weightless musical backdrop.
Apprehension, anxiety have seldom had this much bounce.
