Black Star lighting up House of Blues
Debuting in the late ’90s, Black Star shined brighter than even Puffy’s bling did at the time. And this duo of two of New York City’s all-time greatest MCs, Mos Def and Talib Kweli, couldn’t have stood in starker contrast to P. Diddy’s featherweight party rap, coming with a Marcus Garvey-inspired uplift that made their self-titled 1998 debut an immediate classic.
