Locals Only: You’re with Rover? Well, walk on over
Unless you’re one of those dog owners who just lets their little furballs run wild and poo wherever they please, you have to walk them sometime. So why not do it for a good cause?
The Las Vegas Valley Humane Society’s 18th Annual Wag-A-Tail Walk-A-Thon is set for Sunday at Centennial Hills Park, 7101 N. Buffalo Drive.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the walk, between one and two miles depending on the course you choose, starting at 9 a.m.
In addition to sponsor giveaways and raffles for gift baskets including show tickets, prizes will be awarded for “Most Waggenest Tail” and Musical Chairs with your Pooch.
Registration, which includes a T-shirt, is $30 for adults, with a discount for students.
Proceeds will benefit the Humane Society’s efforts to rescue, medically treat, rehabilitate, and foster and adopt stray and abandoned animals.

All that glitters
“Too Much of a Good Thing Is Wonderful” — that’s the title of the pop-up exhibit “Liberace and the Art of Costume,” which has been blinding bling-happy visitors to The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas since November. Alas, all good things must come to an end, so you’ve only got another month to check out the rhinestone piano, sequined tuxedos and other eye-popping items associated with the late, great Mr. Showmanship. The free exhibit (donations to the Liberace Foundation are accepted) continues from 3 to 10 p.m. daily at The Cosmopolitan, 3708 Las Vegas Blvd. South; call 702-698-7640 for more information.
Art plus extras
“Arts, Eats & Beats — Art Walk,” benefiting Three Square food bank, will take over the Village Square shopping area from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The works of more than 15 artists will be on display, with judging at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Chalk artists are invited to participate by calling Roz Knight at 702-523-5306; an open area for public drawing will be provided for a small fee. As for the “eats” component, $25 passports ($20 at GoVillageSquare.com) will entitle holders to food and drink from participating businesses, with 100 percent of the proceeds donated to Three Square. As for the “beats,” live music will be provided.
Justin time
Singer-songwriter Justin Mather performs all over the valley. But if you make the drive to his home town Boulder City on Sunday afternoon, he will do all he can to make it worthwhile — short of guaranteeing perfect weather. Mather and his musical friends host a free “Sunday Music in the Park” from 1 to 4 p.m. in Wilbur Square Park, that big grassy area downtown in front of the Bureau of Reclamation offices.
Gettin’ wiggy
Former Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus continues to make shambolic, offhandedly great rock and roll with his band The Jicks. Their lastest is “Wig Out at Jagbags,” which is worth wigging out for.
