‘Law & Order’ director arrested for child porn possession
TV director Jason “Jace” Alexander (not to be confused with Jason Alexander of “Seinfeld” fame) was arrested Wednesday in connection with the possession and file-sharing of child pornography.
Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced the news on Wednesday afternoon. He has been charged with one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child and one count of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child. He faces a maximum of seven years in state prison.
On July 24 an investigator from the Westchester County DA’s office downloaded child pornography from an IP address in Westchester County. After further investigation, authorities found that the IP address came from Alexander’s home.
A search warrant was subsequently executed on Alexander’s home, where a forensic examination of computers and hard drives revealed digital files of children less than 16 years of age in child pornography.
He posted $10,000 bail and is expected in court on Nov. 19.
Alexander is known for directing more than 30 episodes of “Law & Order,” along with several episodes of “Rescue Me,” “The Blacklist” and “The Practice.” He most recently directed for DirecTV’s comedy “Coop.” He is also a second VP for the Directors Guild of America.
Alexander’s rep did not immediately respond to request for comment.
